“…they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.” Mark 16:18
Hi everyone. I am missionary evangelist Rubens Cunha and this is part 5 of a 9-part weekly series on how to pray for healing and get results. Enjoy!
Principle # 4: The laying of hands
“At sunset, the people brought to Jesus all who had various kinds of sickness, and laying his hands on each one, he healed them.” Luke 4:40
The laying on of hands is an act of obedience to the command of Christ and a point of contact for our faith. The Bible says that healing power came out of Jesus and healed the sick (Luke 6:19). Jesus is in us today, and when we lay hands on the sick, the power of the Holy Spirit and the virtue of divine healing is released to heal the sick. When we lay hands and pray for the sick, miracles happen!
When you pray for divine healing, lay your hands on the sick person and trust that the power of the Holy Spirit that lives in you will flow to that person and bring healing.
When laying hands, always remember to be respectful and loving towards the person receiving prayer. You do not need to lay hands directly on the sick part of the body, especially if you are praying for a stranger or for a person of the opposite sex. If it makes you feel more comfortable, just lay your hands on the shoulders or on the head of the person receiving prayer.
Putting into practice: When you pray, lay hands on the sick person with the understanding that God gave you healing hands. Believe that the power of the Holy Spirit will be released and flow to heal the sick person just like it happened to Jesus here on earth.
Next week we will learn about casting out spirits of infirmity.
