“In Lystra there sat a man who was lame. He had been that way from birth and had never walked. He listened to Paul as he was speaking. Paul looked directly at him, saw that he had faith to be healed and called out, “Stand up on your feet!” At that, the man jumped up and began to walk.”Acts 14:8-10
Hi everyone. I am missionary evangelist Rubens Cunha and this is part 8 of a 9-part weekly series on how to pray for healing and get results. Enjoy!
Principle #7: Put faith in action
Most of those that were healed in the New Testament and in our days received their miracle when they put their faith in action. That is, when by faith, they began to do what they could not do before.
When Paul commanded the lame man in Lystra to stand up, the man did not wait for someone to pick him up, nor did he expect to feel ‘something different’ but he simply jumped up and began to walk. He put his faith in action and received a great miracle!
In our evangelistic campaigns, I always give people the opportunity to put their faith in action by saying at the end of the prayer: “In the name of Jesus, do now what you could not do before.” Thousands of people have received great miracles from God during this very moment of prayer.
Whenever you pray for healing, encourage the persons receiving prayer to put their faith in action by doing what they could not do before, but it is equally important to do that with love and compassion. Never force a situation and respect the level of faith of each person.
Putting it into practice: When you finish the prayer for healing, tell the person receiving prayer to do that he or she could not do before. For example, if the issue was pain in the arm, say: “now raise your arm in the name of Jesus.” If the pain was in the leg say: “move your leg in the name of Jesus.” And so on.
Next week we will watch one more testimony and review all the principles taught in this devotional plan.
